Israel is an ally. Of course we hold our friends to high standards. Of course we respect international law. But this was the wrong decision announced at a dreadful time. If we treat allies like this, what message does this send to other allies & and our enemies, around the world.

Labour have made a choice. To reward striking public sector unions with sky high pay deals, with no promise of modernisation or reform of working practices, whilst removing the Winter Fuel Allowance from pensioners. That's their choice.

We should be proud and champion far more the values that we and all liberal democracies hold dear. And we shouldn't be afraid to defend intervention when it prevents the enemies of those values committing atrocities to their own and other peoples.

No mention of costs? Although the ESO are being put in a very bad position here, being asked to pursue something they previously disagreed with. What they should be being asked is: how much will this cost, what does this mean for energy security - is it right for the country?
