Middle school students from across Alaska and Hawai'i participated in the Career Explorations Marine Science Week in Juneau! From hands-on experiments to engaging discussions, the students explored marine habitats and learned about the connection between science and culture.

Last week, ANSEP hosted an Energy Career Explorations Week for our middle school students. They built model houses to explore energy-efficient architecture and constructed miniature turbines to understand renewable energy generation firsthand!

Welcome back ANSEP students! This week is fall orientation for the fall Acceleration Academy in Anchorage, Mat-Su, Kotzebue and Bethel where 174 students participated in team-building activities, hands-on learning and more!

Emma Daniel is Yup'ik from Bethel and this summer she participated in the Summer Bridge component! Her internship was with the Natural Resource Department at the AVCP where she worked with the Native Village of Napaimute on their test fishery and data logger projects.

Remington Bowles has been with ANSEP for four years and was born and raised in Alaska! For his Summer Bridge internship, he worked with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, teaching kids fishing, archery, and how to understand the different pollinators that help with Alaskan wildlife!

Today we kicked off the Fall 2024 semester with our first ANSEP University Success Friday meeting! Quyana to all of the speakers that presented today, your inspirational stories and opportunities left the students motivated and ready to make this semester incredible!

Throughout this week, ANSEP Bethel Acceleration Academy students have been doing community service by magnet fishing in local ponds and Brown’s Slough! They have recovered over 75 bikes, found missing and stolen items, and more. Way to go, students!
