Ventilated beekeeping suits are all very well and nice in this hot weather, but they can allow tick nymphs to get in! l've not long pulled this one out of the top of my leg, as it was feeding on me! Check yourself and your suit for ticks ✔️ #BlackDogHoneyBees 🐝 #LymeDisease

Leather gloves, in beekeeping, can spread disease between colonies, but as we treat each apiary as one big colony and have leather gloves for each apiary, I wear them when I need to 🐝 There's something about aggressive colonies that I just ❤️ #BlackDogHoneyBees 🐝 #Plymouth

We spent the night extracting honey last night, and we're off up to Bridport and Taunton later today, to start bringing colonies back over the next 2 days 🐝 Not before we've had this honey for breakfast though 🍯🐝 Available at the West End Plymouth Carnival on Saturday 24th 🐝

We've been extracting our honey from #Bridport today 🍯🐝 The bees didn't do as well as we hoped there, and we lost one colony with 4 boxes, to wasps 🐝 Still, we'll be able to make a limited batch with it all and cover the overheads 🐝 #EveryCloud 🌥 #BlackDogHoneyBees 🐝

Today's shenanigans consist of a 402 mile journey, an 11 hour day, hives being moved from one site to another, harvesting honey, cutting back brambles, and taking half a dozen stings 🐝 All for the love of #bees 🐝 #BlackDogHoneyBees 🐝

There is a massive difference between our sites, this year, and where others have just been ok, others have done well for us 🐝 I only wish I put more supers on, but these seem about right 🐝 Those green excluders have been a PITA though! #BlackDogHoneyBees 🐝
