I’m watching “The Thing” (1982) for the first time and my takeaway is that Wilford Brimley was younger than I am now when the movie was released.

This series has been great storytelling.

He had many great lines throughout his career — “No, I am your father” and “People will come, Ray” among them — but my favorite is a very touching line from “Field of Dreams” … “I’m going to beat you with a crow bar until you go away.”

The quest for 400 total bases, on-pace numbers: Aaron Judge: 395 Shohei Ohtani: 389 Bobby Witt Jr.: 387 Everyone has slowed. Judge seems to be the only one with a real shot. Ohtani and Witt would need to get real hot these last three weeks. It's hard to get 400 total bases.

as i mentioned, i am going to dig into these numbers a bit to see if i can make sense as to why the braves offense is stagnant this year. my hypothesis is as it has been all year: 2023 was 80th percentile outcome, 2024 is 20th percentile outcome.
