“When you Google ‘famous engineers’, you get a bunch of black and white pictures and a lot of Elon Musk. So all in all, not very inspiring.” Andrew Smyth Bakineering - Embracing the Unexpected QED #qedcon2023

I’m not quite sure how to explain what’s happened tonight, because it’s still happening - but here goes… At 4:40pm I jumped on a train from London to Edinburgh.. It was comfy, it was quiet In hindsight, too good to last…

Sometimes I learn something while making a video that I am too excited about to wait to share. The space shuttle had deployable air data sensors that flipped out from underneath the heat shield once re-entry was complete.

Beautiful obit for Tony. "One colleague shared that getting anywhere in New York with him took ages because of all the people he stopped to speak to on the way." Yup!! nationswell.com/in-memoriam-an…

Anyone else spot Diane’s proud wobbly lip moment when Ross won the shield? The mothership might crack yet #TheTraitorsUK

Oh dear.... Neil deGrasse Tyson teaching that wings work through the fallacy of equal transit theory. As if the atoms in one piece of air somehow know what the atoms in in the air on the other side of a wing are doing. We have enough problems with new pilots getting this strange

1. I'm legit shocked by the design of Meta's new notification informing us they want to use the content we post to train their AI models. It's intentionally designed to be highly awkward in order to minimise the number of users who will object to it. Let me break it down.

The before and after on that heroic #Starship flap, clinging on for dear life. Incredible to watch, bravo to the engineering team

Oh the poor Olympics camera operators and directors. Beautiful single shots that took months of planning completely screwed by the rain because they don’t have a second camera for the director to cut away to and give time for a lens wipe.
