Today, 18.12.2023, Giovanni Anselmo, one of the greatest, most generous, most precise, Arte povera artists, passed away at 89. I loved him enormously. He oriented, showed me the meaning of ultramarine blue, beyond the sea, oltremare, far away and yet here, now, alive.

"Interferenza nella gravitazione universale" by Giovanni Anselmo (1934-2023): in 1969 he walked towards the setting sun, against the rotation of the earth, thus gaining a very little bit more light, before sunset.

I have started at age 66 an Instagram account, carolynchristovbakargiev , to explore the narcissism of the selfie era of "dividuals" and their floating signifiers. I have a plan and will soon post my first post for you. Warmly, Carolyn

Disjunctures switch our attention from one scene to another, echoing our fractured, rushing selves, unable to stop the rubble and detritus of data from piling up. We smile, however, each time a little group of benevolent paper rats comes onto the scene.

I salute you, Dinh Q. Lê. It was raining in Saigon, Ho Chi Minh city, long ago. Both young, we were haunted by history. Forever a child of boat people, you chose to go home, and taught me what return-diaspora meant. You were younger - it was not supposed to go this way.

instagram.com/stories/anne_i… We started in 2018, opened in early 2020, closed after 5 days - an empty museum. I remember horses, white dogs, burning flowers, fighting with ChatGPT and collective stupidity. My dog Darcy was alive. Thank you Anne, Joie and all in the Studio.

I will not say his name, he would not have wanted. He was a gentleman, the finest collector, a true friend. His absence cannot be filled in our vulgar world of narcissists. I salute with great sadness this solitary, sensitive, and deep man.

I am sorry for the loss of Kaspar Koenig and pay condolences to his family. He was intuitive, curious, open. I thank him for the opportunity he gave me. Without his support I would never have been entrusted with documenta. ccb

With age, i forget the definition of art but it is interesting to think about Dyonisus and the things humans make with leaves, grapes, the shapes of content and the content of shapes. A lively senselessness in the twilight.
