Christmas trivial pursuit annoyance. Originally got annoyed at this question because I don't see the kidney as a gland. but it got me thinking. Is the kidney a gland? It does secrete some hormones. #askrenal

My dad died on Christmas Eve. He waited for an ambulance for 3 hours before it was too late. He was only 58. I’ve fought my whole life to stop this kind of thing from happening. I admit defeat. It’s over. We’ve lost. The Tories have what they wanted.

The s35 Statement of Reasons has now been published. It identifies 3 sets of reasons why the Sec of State considers the GRR Bill would have an adverse effect on the operation of reserved matter law namely equal opportunities.

🚨MHRA advice on risks of terlipressin in HRS (finally) published🚨 In ‘Risk Factors’ for death from respiratory failure they don’t convert to the units used for creatinine in UK 🙄, but if starting serum creatinine >442umol/L then survival does this👇👇 gov.uk/drug-safety-up…

“If doctors aren’t happy with their pay, they should get a different job” Yeah, we are. This is the most striking graph I’ve seen so far regarding the retention of doctors. Full pay restoration or watch the graph turn blue

I paraphrase but ‘The reason we check BP on hospital inpatients is to monitor for *hypotension*, which can herald many medical problems. Asymptomatic hypertension should not be treated with extra STAT anti-hypertensives as this is associated with *harm*’

"So the activated C1 cleaves C4 into C4a and C4b, which binds to the microbial surface. C4b then binds C2, which is cleaved by C1s into C2a and C2b, forming the C4b2b complex, also known as C3 convertase, which cleaves C3 into C3a and C3b."

I’ve thought long and hard about posting this but here goes. I once raised concerns about the behaviour of a colleague after a more junior colleague confided in me that they had acted illegally towards them.

You can't operate as a gardener without a big 4x4 apparently... 100kg in the front (which will also take a lawnmower). Even more with the trailer. (which was loaded with rubble when I saw it!)

I submitted an FOI request to the GMC asking them about the tax they pay. Turns out, the GMC do not pay tax. They class doctors' fees as charity. They take £500/yr from doctors, pay zero tax on it, and use it to give their staff £250k salaries and private healthcare.
