Really interesting appointment. - PM going outside his political team is unusual - CEO of a major British company - Timpsons are very involved in rehabilitating ex-prisoners - His brother used to be a Conservative minister (pretty decent one by all accounts)

Jeffrey Jones@OldParish The purpose is to try and calm the internal pressure within the Labour group, nothing to do with good government. But legally, the DFM is just another minister. We've had one before (IWJ), Scotland have had them since 1999 (with same wording of law as us)
