The mainstream media’s coverage of the campus protests against the Gaza genocide is actually worse, more biased, more dishonest, than its coverage of the Gaza genocide itself, which I actually didn’t think possible.

That someone at MSNBC would take this at face value enough to compose a separate post is yet another sign that elite media members in New York know almost nothing about living in New York.

Turns out everyone arrested in Hamilton Hall was a student. We've seen these accusations from Tom Cotton and Elise Stefanik. It is disappointing to see them from David Axelrod too.

We out here—university teachers—refusing the authoritarian police state created at Columbia & someone in faculty housing is attempting to drown out our demonstration by playing music, inc. the national anthem. The colonial poetry of it all. 🍉

Here’s a quick thread clarifying the AAUP’s stance on antisemitism.

The AAUP views the growth of antisemitism as a severe threat which can & should be addressed under existing civil rights laws as religious or race discrimination.

Rep. Nadler Columbia University Some of the students in Columbia are Palestinian-Americans and have had family members killed by the IDF -- does that count as having a 'personal stake.' Or are Palestinians not human?

NYPD says 282 people arrested between CCNY & Columbia, 109 from Columbia and 173 at CCNY. Charges ranging from trespass to criminal mischief and burglary (burglary for those who occupied Hamilton Hall).

Y’all - Pls correct inaccurate news from MSM, including by CNN -- those arrested in the first roundup at Columbia University WERE ALL STUDENTS. About 26 Columbia college & about 58 Barnard College students arrested & suspended. The others were from other schools AT COLUMBIA. No outsides.

that's a bike lock. in fact, many students in NYC bring bike locks to school. because they have ridden their bikes there

In 1968, protests at Columbia were bigger and more disruptive. Yet in 2024, the university responded faster and with more violence. The change is due to the militarization of the police and growth of elite private education into more important site of American capital and power.

I’m so sickened and disgusted by what I witnessed at CCNY tonite. Students said to me “please, you are a professor, tell them what they did to us.” The smug smirks of men with guns and truncheons feeling big by tackling unarmed 19 yos desperately trying to end a genocide.

incredible that, within mere hours, we witnessed brutal assault by the NYPD on students because of 'outside agitators' while the LAPD stood by as they witnessed brutal assault on students by outside agitators

CW: footage of police violence

JFREJ members are outside CCNY supporting the student protestors. We've seen violence from the NYPD:
-charging the crowd
-kettling
-throwing protestors to the ground
-beating them with batons
-indiscriminate arrests without warning
