Saw Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, it's a fun sequel with Burton once more putting spooky visuals up on the big screen and it's wonderful seeing Keaton as the 'Juice again. It does feel overstuffed with ideas and it has trouble keeping its story focused but I had a blast watching it.

Invisible Man was good and it set me up to expect Leigh Whannell's "Universal Monster" movies to be in name only. Maybe "Wolf Man" will be named Talbot but that's as far as they'll take it, it'll probably be a good werewolf film that just has to sell itself with a familiar title.

Knowing the writers of Beetlejuice 2 are the showrunners of Smallville & Wednesday, the script weaknesses make more sense. It feels like a season of a show that's been condensed to 100 minutes: lots of characters & subplots with an ambiguous ending possibly teasing more episodes.

Monica Bellucci is Tim Burton's new girlfriend so it felt like a Helena Bonham Carter situation where the writers had to just figure out some role she could play, they do so much setup of her character but you could easily cut her out and focus more on Astrid's storyline

We don't really know what Wolf Man's werewolf in the actual movie looks like yet, all we have is a scare actor standing in front of a poster for the movie at HHN in daylight and without context, I can't really make a definitive judgement of the movie's werewolf based on just that

A lot of my favorite horror movies tend to have very simple premises, it's all in how it's executed and the broad concept makes it easier to see yourself in a scenario. How effective Wolf Man is will come down to its set-pieces and how suspenseful it is, not necessarily its plot.
