This is a great read by Claire Stoneman. It’s a caution to schools/systems frothing over generalist coaching approaches/programs, the codifying of techniques, or pedagogy prescription, in the absence of great curriculum. You can only coach the ‘how’ with a quality ‘what’.

The only time I find sticks partially useful is when I’m modelling lessons in a school where I don’t know names, but name tags are better. Checking for understanding shouldn’t be random & should feel like we care about them personally. Sticks are useful in icy poles & ice creams.
