It's a good headline that Magnus Brunner once beat Julian Knowle who was the US Open Tennis Doubles Champion in 2007. But I'm more interested in how good of a player Brunner is today. His ITN is 5.68 so I am quite certain that I would beat him.

Been thinking a lot about hiring and Soumitra Shukla’s paper finding that discrimination is alive and well in elite hiring. Soum finds the bulk of discrimination against lower-caste job candidates emerges after amorphous, subjective “personality fit” interviews.

Truth Social now trading at $14.70. We all knew it had no revenue, no profits, no value. So why is this company still valued at over $2 billion and why has it even taken so long to decline to this point?

Huge increase in psychiatric meds after starting a PhD (in Sweden, matching ppl who did a masters but no PhD to ppl who went onto a PhD. Similar mental health at baseline) We already knew PhD mental health is bad from surveys. This strongly suggests it’s causal (not selection).

European societies with late fertility transitions had surplus people, who then migrated to the New World, France had far lower fertility so there were far lower outward flows. 🇫🇷 actually became a land of immigration from 1850!! Tremendous talk on fertility by Romain Wacziarg

The Apple antitrust case is stuck in discovery hell. Thanks again to the fortitude of Epic Games, the government is clued into Apple's hide-the-ball games -- which Apple is STILL playing despite getting spanked in the Epic case already.
