During her presentation, the coordinator of Forest Stewardship Council - Eastern Africa Annah Agasha said that 232 million Hectares of forests are at risk being lost if nothing done to sustainably protect them. That's why Forest Stewardship Council intervenes protect healthy, resilient forests for all, forever through certification.

As of July 2024, over 160 million hectares of forests have been certified globally using the FSC standard. In Africa, over 10 million hectares of forests have been certified with 10.000 hectares (approximately 0.1% in Africa) being from Rwanda.
