An announcement on the UK government extending the #HouseholdSupportFund cannot come soon enough. In the long term we need a well-functioning social security system with permanent crisis support established in every local authority in England #CashFirst ft.com/content/da1b78…

Really hope this is wrong: POLITICO notes Household Support Fund announcement might wait til Budget. HSF finishes end September. Waiting a month to announce extension would be extremely disruptive & damaging. We need it ASAP to preserve services whilst replacement is designed.

Currently, absolute and relative poverty are heading in the wrong direction. If the economic forecasts and policies inherited by the new Gov remained unchanged, 1.5 million more people, including 400,000 children, would be in relative poverty by the end of the Parliament.

Very welcome that the Household Support Fund has been extended for a further 6 months. Much needed over what will be a difficult winter for many. The extension creates a window for a permanent funding solution for local welfare assistance to be found. Resolve Poverty

Another win for Resolve Poverty We've put the socio-economic duty on the agenda across the city region with more and more parts of the public sector adopting it. Now we need to ensure effective implementation so the SED has the desired impact we all want to see.
