Cool proof-of-concept study using wearable devices to predict IBD flares: - heart rate variability = indirect measure of autonomic nervous system function - inflammatory states --> HRV curves shift down due to increased sympathetic tone - changes detected 42 days in advance

Oral delivery of ustekinumab via a robotic pill in healthy subjects achieves a high bioavailability (pill looks a bit big for now though, hopefully future iterations will include design improvements to increase tolerability)

Autoimmune pancreatitis - type 1 (lobule centric) vs type 2 (duct centric) Although both types are highly responsive to steroids, they are distinct in many ways.

Type 2 autoimmune pancreatitis (IDCP) - a/w IBD (esp. UC) - pts are younger - histology required: periductal inflammation++ & granulocyte epithelial lesions - highly responsive to steroids - benign course/good long term outcomes

Iosif Beintaris @FG_BMJ_debate FIT is a very good rule-out test for #CRC - not perfect of course, no test is, but it is remarkably effective - a FIT-negative patient (<10) has essentially the same risk as the general population - you might as well scope their neighbour. #FGdebate

Intestinal permeability in IBD. Even in patients with histological remission, leakage of fluorescein either between epithelial cells and/or through sites of enterocyte shedding. (demonstrating impaired epithelial integrity and/or apoptosis) - a/w symptoms - a/w poorer outcomes

PREDICT-UC. Multicenter open-label RCT in ASUC pts. Higher doses of IFX did not result in better clinical response by days 7/14, nor colectomy rates by 3 mths. Maintenance dosing for intensified/accelerated dosing groups limited by local restrictions, does affect outcome.
