The most perfect instrumental combination, the musical equivalent of bacon and eggs, is a piano plus a really crappy 1970s electric organ. Yet this discovery seems to have been confined to gospel music. Mahalia Jackson "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" from "Louis Armstrong at ...

Why moving to electrified transport is an advantage to seize: šŸ”‹80% of lithium, 66% of nickel and 50% of copper reserves are in democracies. šŸ›¢ļø80% of oil reserves are in OPEC countries

Worth remembering the gov announced this was gonna happen in 2022 (perhaps earlier?) and legislation to implement was passed in 2023. Follows the precedent of countless other countries including the USA

Donā€™t get this bizarre point that always crops up. Iā€™d rather we finally got stuck in with some real investment to clean these supply chains up. Weā€™re all using products with cobalt in, including petrol cars. Weā€™d prefer to keep things the way they were to prove a point on EVs?

This is why it is so important that our energy policy and industrial strategy puts energy efficiency - by which I mean full system efficiency, not insulation - at its core. Itā€™s not only about bills, it determines whether our whole economy sinks or swims.

Tech improvements and recycling lowering demand for LiNiCo already Good for security and growth. Efficiency and recycling = more abundant resources But we absolutely need to diversify the production of clean tech, which = greater resilience for all countries in a warmer world

Itā€™s a wonderful idea championed by the wonderful createstreets. I now work on Oxford Street, itā€™s a lovely place to be in the morning when cars arenā€™t squishing thousands of people onto the narrow strips at the side ā€œRemembering Elizabeth the Goodā€ > createstreets.com/8269-2/

Brill bit on EVs from Rory Sutherland on Andrew Goldā€™s show An example of massive efficiency gains improving life (which he goes on to say is under-appreciated due to rent seeking in the economy esp in the property market sucking up normal peoplesā€™ cash)

We need cheap energy to compete for investment like thisšŸ‘‡ that requires updating our elec market to make it work with the more decentralised energy system weā€™re building. If we donā€™t, weā€™ll have a cleaner but v wasteful, high cost energy system which nobody wants to plug into

Wouldnā€™t it be good if we had low energy prices in the areas with low house prices, so we could attract industries and jobs to those places so people would want to live there?
