Proud of our eLife paper where we use an integrated ephys and Ca2+ imaging scope, to record the activity of cerebellar and anterior cingulate neurons during social interaction. Kudos to Sung Won Hur and Karen Safaryan who led this project. doi.org/10.7554/eLife.… eLife - the journal

NEW PREPRINT! Led by Susie Yu Feng, we characterized memory impairment and entorhinal-hippocampal desynchronization in epileptic mice. We found early hippocampal deficits and late-onset MEC deficits that emerged with progressively worse cognitive impairment. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Incredible how much stuff you need to set up in vivo imaging experiments with olfactory memory behavior in 🐁 !! Especially for surgeries! The list keeps growing but 1.5 years later aaaaaalmost everything is here.

So grateful to have Brain Canada and Azrieli Foundation support my very first steps in establishing my research into how voltage imaging can literally shed light on schizophrenia-driven misfiring of neurons.

I have followed the development of this amazing 2P miniscope from Day1 by Blake Madruga’s tireless efforts and constant drive for innovation. This is an incredible technological feat.

So thrilled and grateful to receive a NSERC / CRSNG Discovery Grant! These funds will support my awesome grad student Keira_TWL researching the role of VIP cells in sculpting memory-related hippocampal dynamics! (Turns out I could have announced this a month ago!)

First 2 posters of the Taxidis lab went up at the The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) Summer Research (SSuRe) Symposium! Such a joy mentoring Felicia Liu (NSERC / CRSNG USRA awardee) + Ron Reitman (UROP awardee) over the summer. Both super productive! Summer students can really make a difference! 🙏

Such pleasure co-mentoring Conor throughout his PhD journey all the way to this super exciting manuscript! 2P CA1 imaging+DREADDs, 2P MEC/LEC axonal imaging (!!), mouse behavior and more. He found that BTSP doesn’t just create place fields, but odor fields too (+ EC is crucial).
