I wasn’t a fan of the single poem/ short story prize format - there’s lots of comps for those - but it’s a disgrace that An Post Irish Book Awards have NO categories for short story or poetry collections. Now the single poem/short story prizes are gone, neither genre is represented at all.

So many people have come on board to support our book, Wild Folk. Wonderful response to the cover reveal. We had a small celebration with publisher, designer, illustrator, author, at the weekend. Find out more here. jackiemorris.co.uk/wild-folk-word…

brat summer is over. now it's time for pannage autumn, the ancient medieval custom of releasing your pigs in the woods so they can eat the chestnuts and acorns that fall to the forest floor.

This is where I'll be tomorrow. At Foyles Bookshop in CXR with the notable adept John Finnemore puzzling out why we love to peer into the hidden order of things as he launches his near-impossible to solve box of complexity, THE RESEARCHER'S FIRST MURDER... the sequel to #CainsJawbone

If you know Octavia Butler's work, then this is a no-brainer. If you don't (i) you should and (ii) having Salena Godden and Dr Una McCormack reading from and discussing her ground-breaking work is the best possible intro imaginable...

If you're in Birmingham this weekend, do pop down to the Heath Bookshop – #NorthernBoy is an absolutely glorious debut from Iqbal Hussain. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll laugh some more. It has all the feels and I'm so proud that we've published it Unbound. ❤️

While I beaver away in farmland hedges, my wife turns some of their bounty into beautiful pottery. This shows some of the processes involved in her making a 'bramble' platter. I can't wait to see the end result come out of the kiln.
