Slight rant, but: I really wish the e-bike industry had a quick way to differentiate between an Actual E-Bike and a Motorcycle With Pedals than these wonky government classification systems. I hate getting sucked into arguments where we're talking about totally different things.

But that is a good goal… If you ride a cargo bike & we aren’t already connected, please respond here so I can follow you! 🚲❤️ 2/2

On our walk to school this morning a school bus was completely blocking the crosswalk at the most deadly street on our route (Nicollet). Not at a bus stop, not taking a right on red. The driver just pulled up & fully blocked the crosswalk to wait at the red.

In Minneapolis, a common activity is to bike to a lake (22+ to choose from), then sit on a bench and look at the lake. Free, public ‘third places’ are pretty great. More places should have more of them.

When I drive, I get frustrated when a lot of car traffic collects at stoplights. When I bike, I love seeing bike traffic at lights. Because bikes are more efficient at moving large #s of people in constrained places, we can coexist on our bikes w/o slowing each other down much.

I’ve said this many times. Imagine if Lake Harriet could only be enjoyed by 100 people who owned homes on the shore. Look at M’haha Creek at the Edina-Mpls border. In Mpls it’s public. In Edina it’s people’s backyards.

Last night Nissa Mitchell & I joined many Gen X’ers & Elder Millennials to see Dinosaur Jr, The Flaming Lips & Weezer. By far, The Flaming Lips took the show. Wayne Coyne is such a gem.

For the second year in a row, Minnesota is making sure all students have access to free school meals, no questions asked. My Universal School Meals Program Act would make this a reality nationwide, making sure that every child has the nutrition they need to succeed.

Americans often assume: 1) virtually every adult can & wants to drive. 2) only the youngest, most fit & uninjured can & want to bike (or walk, roll) for transportation. Both are false. We should invest in all modes so everyone has the freedom to choose how they get around.

Every family that wants to, should be able to live in a neighborhood where they can safely bike their kids to school. But we’ve used zoning to make neighborhoods like mine super rare. And most cities have severely underinvested in safe infrastructure. We should fix that.

As a selfish parent I love walkable neighbourhoods cause I can send my kid to the store to get stuff I need. No big conspiracy, I’m just lazy.
