DC and Virginia won't participate in the IRS's new free tax filing site in 2025, but Maryland confirmed today that they're joining. Here are all the states where you can use Direct File for free next year if your tax situation allows.

Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears has filed paperwork to run for governor next year, and is expected to make an official announcement tonight in Virginia Beach. She is the first big name on the GOP side, although sources have told me AG Jason Miyares is considering a run.
