30th anniversary of the investiture of Nelson Mandela as President of a fully democratic South Africa, in Glasgow City Chambers where exiled South Africans voted in those first fully free elections. Heartening to hear of progress for permanent memorial to Mandela in the city.

Many thanks to the Lord Provost for her warm words of support at our NMSMF and ACTSA Scotland celebration. Glasgow City Council has for decades been a staunch friend of the anti-apartheid struggle and then of the building of the new South Africa. We are glad that this continues.

Today, we will pay homage to the Rivonia Trialists who were sentenced to life imprisonment on this day 60 years ago. Our commemorative event will take place at the Palace of Justice, where the trial took place. Follow the event live on our Facebook page at 12pm. #RivoniaTrial60
