In our first weekly research showcase of the academic year, we have Valeria Ciccone, a 2nd year PhD student at our group presenting her progress on studying the clogging of soft capsules in order to model Sickle Cell Disease.

Our second weekly research showcase featured our newest member, Lewis Melvin. He presented the work he did before starting his PhD on micro-swimmers that use phoretic micro-fluidic reactions.

Congratulations to Antony for the first paper from his PhD. This work, published in Physical Review Fluids, employs a point torque (or “rotlet”) model to capture the time-averaged ciliary flow above a planar rigid wall.
