This weekend, Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers of Merseyside Wing Air Cadets attended the Wing Conference at North Liverpool Academy, to find ways to improve how we deliver the Cadet experience to Cadets on our 27 Squadrons. This weekend, the Training Development Team ran Bronze Leadership courses at RAF Woodvale where 32 Cadets were taught how to understand, implement & deliver leadership, before leading exercises under staff supervision with those passing being awarded the Bronze Leadership badge.

Last weekend more Merseyside Wing cadets & staff successfully completed the Youth or Activity First Aid courses held at Chester Sqn, learning new life skills & developing those previously gained, all running smoothly thanks to the training staff who supported the course.

Earlier this month, the Wing Fieldcraft Training Team were the first across the RAF Air Cadets to run the Bronze Level Fieldcraft Course at Altcar Traning Camp. It was well received by all attending, so thank you to all staff who worked so hard to make the weekend such a success.

A massive well done is due to the Merseyside Wing Athletics Team who this weekend represented the Wing excellently at the Inter-Wing Athletics Competition. Plenty of medals were achieved & the Team came 3rd overall. A great effort & results in a very competitive competition!

Last weekend Sector 2 of Merseyside Wing held a training weekend at 969 (St. Helen’s) Sqn where 55 Air Cadet qualifications were earned, including 14 Blue & 8 Bronze Radio badges, 12 Blue Radio assessor qualifications achieved & 21 Cadets now trained on the Air Rifle.

Today 11 Sqns from Merseyside Wing competed at the Inter-Sqn Rounders Competition which ended the 2024 Sports Season. Overall it was a competitive event with 306 (Runcorn) Sqn at 3rd place, 2348 (Maghull) Sqn at 2nd & the competition being won by the Cadets of 1438 (Prescot) Sqn.

Two RAF Air Cadets, Cadet Warrant Officer William Caley from 610 (City of Chester) Sqn & Flight Sergeant Oliver Ankiewicz from 1908 (Bootle) Sqn, have successfully completed the challenging Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Gold expedition alongside Cadets from across North Region.

Recently, the Merseyside Wing Duke of Edinburgh Award team were out again, this time completing Gold expeditions. Three groups of staff and cadets from Squadrons across Merseyside Wing travelled to the Rhinogs in Snowdonia to complete a challenging 4-day venture from 9-12 August.
