A nice example of Diplodia (Stenocarpella) stalk rot on corn from Erick Larson. The fungus produces lots of spores in small black fruiting structures (pycnidia) on the stalk. Infected stalk debris on the soil surface can increase disease incidence the following season. #MSUext
