Honestly? If you are a real beginner, I’d say: forget everything you heard before. You never, ever heard real sound. What you hear out of your whatever you listen to the music on is not even close to sound as it is. Unless it’s some high end, which is likely not. Buy the best

When you mix a song, you shouldn't forget that you mixing the performance. Performance shouldn't sound in vacuum. Performance should be treated like a song performed live. Think where you could hear this song? Club? Garage? Small cafe? Replicate this environment in your mix.
