Just published Journal of African Archaeology! At #amarawest in Upper #Nubia, large pyramid tombs contained the burials of those migrated from elsewhere, likely Egypt: so final phases of the pharaonic colonial project (c1300-1070BCE) relied on elite mobility #Sudan doi:10.1163/21915784-bja10033

Some of mid-tier pyramid tombs contained both local and non-local individuals, but all those analysed from chamber and niche tombs were of local origin (as were individuals buried after the end of pharaonic rule).
