We've been working hard on the experimental Node#moveBefore() API to preserve DOM state across element moves & reparenting.
Here's a demo working with CSS animations & iframes! Try it out in Chrome Canary at state-preserving-atomic-move.glitch.me. We'd love your feedback!

It’s marked as “experimental” as per MDN policy until at least 1 other browser engine supports it, but it’s fully shipped in Chrome and ready to use to help you debug your INP issues.
