As we turn the calendar to September, we can look back at the climate statistics for Meteorological Summer (June, July, and August). Average temperatures were above normal across the region, with above average rainfall for most areas, with the exception of the MD eastern shore.

There is a HIGH risk for rip currents across the southern beaches today (moderate north) and across all area beaches Wed due to onshore flow, building seas, and increasing swells. Additionally, Small Craft Advisories are in effect for NE winds 15-25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt.

Dry and a bit warmer today and tomorrow. A few showers and perhaps a storm late tomorrow. Otherwise, breezy and turning cooler Saturday night through early next week.
