We preachers would do well to remember we are not Moses coming down from Sinai. We are not Elijah on Carmel. We are not as important as the Enemy wants us to think we are. The work matters. FOR SURE. But do it, & then go home & do the dishes, fold laundry, scoop the backyard.

Be a rebel: find a boring church in a denomination where pastors have outside accountability, where Sunday is about Jesus (not the sermon), with unimpressive music, a pastor who explains Bible says in 20 mins or less & hardly ever posts on social media. religionnews.com/2022/04/11/lea…

Some folks are concerned about the lack of biblical literacy in our churches. I’m more concerned with the inability of Christians to read the Bible through the redemptive and ethical lens of Jesus. And yes, one can be biblically literate and still be spiritually degenerate.

Jedi cannot help what they are. Their compassion leaves a trail. - The Grand Inquisitor #ObiWan (If only the world said this about all Christians.)

Jesus wasn’t nice. Yes, he was loving and inclusive—but in the way that gets your rejected by the religious. Yes, he was generous and truthful—but in the way that gets you persecuted by the powerful. Niceness was not his mission. Destroying oppressive systems was. Our turn.

In the gospel of Luke, the prodigal son doesn't return home because of a renewed love for his father. He comes back home simply to survive because he ran out of money and is starving. And his father is perfectly fine with that. Just come home. God just wants you home.

There are some who think that to always preach on the love of God is weak—that people will take advantage of that love. That’s a flimsy understanding of God’s love, for God’s love is the most powerful force in the universe to bring about change.

The conversion of Paul is astounding. -His eyesight is removed for 3 days so that he could finally “see” -His appetite is removed for 3 days so that he could be spiritually nourished -His instinct to murder is removed so that he could preach the gospel A Light like no other.
