Four fabulous flute recitals later, we have chosen a recipient of the Peter Lloyd Flute Prize, to be announced in due course. Very impressed by the level of flute playing at Royal Northern College of Music!

Inspired by this image of TJUONAVAGGE (in Sweden) I wrote a piece of music which will be played again by Royal Northern College of Music saxophone students directed by Rob Buckland🇪🇺💙#BrokenRecord with soloists Gillian Blair Emma McPhilemy in Trento, Italy at the 3rd European Saxophone Congress in July!

And just like that……it’s the end of another year working with my students at Royal Northern College of Music. So nice to spend the evening together at Royal Exchange Theatre and only sorry one student couldn’t make it. Well done to everyone for achievements big and small! 🎹

We were deeply saddened to hear of the death of Sir Howard Bernstein. A significant force for good across our city, Sir Howard served on our Development Board, helping us to raise vital funds as an arts and education charity. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.

A really insightful panel discussion this afternoon with Dr Michelle Phillips, Jo Yee Cheung, Professor John Habron-James and Kate Campbell-Green. It was so useful to gather thoughts and ideas from everyone in the room on what needs to change to enable us to do something different.
