UnitedHealth Group is the biggest employer of doctors and the largest health insurer. Its holdings are vast. Know what else United owns? A bank. It’s called Optum Bank. And it's had problems. 🧵

Masimo revealed in its latest 10-K that it delayed recalling its Rad-G pulse oximeter by 6 months during which time we counted dozens of adverse events reported to the FDA. Plus many devices built outside the timeframe they said should be returned. DOJ has issued them a subpoena.

Yesterday, the Live Nation CEO said a breakup would be an unlikely result of the potential DOJ lawsuit because the DOJ is looking at sector-specific conduct, not conduct that results from its overall structure. If I were an investor, this wouldn't make me feel very confident.

These new subpoenas for $masi don't seem good. We wrote about issues with the pulse oximeters already h/t Sara Sirota . Seems like the DOJ may be pursuing a "reverse" false claims theory. library.thecapitolforum.com/docs/7mupd5x58…

NEW: Three former liaisons at an Addus HomeCare $ADUS unit — all single parents — told me they've been sued and lost jobs after breaking noncompete agreements with the care provider. "It's almost like modern slavery," one said. Only in The Capitol Forum: library.thecapitolforum.com/docs/7nyr9bg4h…

This piece was whirling in my mind for a long time before it made it to paper, and I couldn’t be happier with its home portable model. (ty miranda for making this happen. I'll gladly contribute anytime).

🚨 A federal judge in PA has DENIED plaintiff ATS Tree Services’ motion to block the FTC’s rule banning worker noncompete agreements. Starting September 4, virtually all noncompete agreements across the country will be void. Big win for the FTC and tens of millions of workers.

Reading through the decision, but one thing that's very clear is that every single big business in America will now have to consider whether their exclusive contracts are legal.

Opened this DOJ RealPage complaint thinking I'd skim it, but every quote I read gets more and more insane. No wonder no one can afford rent... These people are either pure evil or perform a temporary lobotomy every time they speak about company strategy 🧵
