Was an honor and privilege to advocate for young beef producers with Canadian Cattle Youth Council in Ottawa last week. Also quite humbling to hear our names announced in the House while we sat in the gallery! All this started for me when I applied for Canadian Cattle Young Leaders , you should apply today!

Got a calf that was having trouble standing. Wife and I tried milking the cow with limited success. In steps grandma (85) and it was like the Fountains of Bellagio under that cow!

She’s been waiting all afternoon for that sunshine. And for the next 10 mins, as that sliver of light passes over her face, it’s going to be glorious!

New rig for us! As a kid I can remember spending the odd Saturday with my dad at the dealership and these (new) tractors were in the shop. I thought they were awesome then and I still think they’re awesome now! #nostalgia

This used to be a gravel pit. We bale grazed here in 2018. Still a few trouble spots but it’s never looked so good in here.

Yearling heifers moved into a new pasture, we’ll turn the bull in here in a few weeks. We negotiated access to this pasture during the drought. It was idle land on a neighboring grain farm. Now I’m grinning like a fool watching these girls with grass up to their belly!

Got the grass seed coming in. Just like last year, the swaths got roughed up in the wind. The straw makes decent grass hay that feeds our replacements all winter

Sunday: I’m stoked about a new-to-me welder I just acquired! Monday: 30 minutes of welding…and my new tool that was supposed to help me cross off a project has just become a project in itself

What an incredible experience to be part of this council. My term as President wrapped up at our AGM last week. The opportunities are amazing when you get involved.

Got our ticket to join the #fallryefanclub but it I’ve gotta admit…seems crazy putting those seeds in the dust. Last measurable rain here was 45 days ago. 🙏🌧🤞🤞
