Last weekend we were beach cleaning in Skye, along a stretch of coastline we visited 3 times last year & removed 6 tonnes of plastic pollution from. Again, we removed a staggering amount of rubbish, something that we would not have achieved without our amazing volunteers!

1 group of awesome volunteers, 2 beaches on Skye, 3 tonnes of plastic pollution removed! 3 tonnes of rubbish no longer able to negatively impact wildlife. 3 tonnes prevented from degrading further into microplastics. Every single item removed, really does make a difference!

A super team effort saw over 220kg of rubbish removed from Cellardyke harbour and the beach near the tidal pool. These creels have been slowly getting buried in stand and stones since washing up in storm Babet last year! Lots of microplastics were picked up too!

My friend who is wildlife guiding on a cruise ship at the moment sent me this picture from Svalbard today. A bit of extreme beach cleaning required 😅 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️ Just goes to show that plastic gets everywhere

1 very small area of beach on Skye, 7 enthusiastic beach cleaners, 34 mins of picking, 10 bags of plastic pollution removed. This is the sad reality of many Scottish beaches. By removing as much as possible, we can stop it from degrading further & re-entering the sea. ❤️🌊
