Our amazing #WeatherRescue volunteers have completed the digitisation of 30 years of sub-daily pressure observations from the Oxford Radcliffe Observatory: 3x daily for 1828-1856, & 12x daily for 1855-1859 so far! And you can still help! WeatherRescue.org

Suella is right. We've all seen those undesirable people, bringing down the tone, and property prices, of an area with their lifestyle choice to sleep rough. Ban all tents now.

Another month, another unprecedented climate record. The consequences are all too clear: floods, heatwaves, droughts & storms, all made worse our reliance on burning fossil fuels. Delaying actions to reduce emissions now will commit us all to experience worse future consequences.

Happy 100th birthday to the Shipping Forecast! First broadcast on New Year's Day 1924 My initial Met Office training included a day with the forecaster preparing the Shipping Forecast. It felt quite special to hear him rehearse aloud carefully-worded drafts to get it just right

2023 was the warmest year on record globally by a large margin. Another dark red stripe gets added, though I think I need a new colour. #ShowYourStripes

Ian Dunt As Adam Bienkov so wryly points out:- Standing in the pouring rain, just yards away from the £2.6 mill taxpayer-funded TV studio built specifically for these occasions, the PM had all the gloomy demeanour of a regional manager bused in to announce a fresh wave of redundancies.
