As a father and an educator, back to school season is my favorite season. Today we kicked off the #EdBusTour24 at Jackson Elementary School in Green Bay, WI.

Our second stop of #EdBusTour24 was at Oneida Nation School in Green Bay, WI where students taught me some of their favorite words in their native language. Investing in multilingualism means the preservation of our tribal languages.

Today we announced $179M in academic acceleration efforts geared towards literacy. This will help states, school districts, & communities implement evidence-based literacy interventions — ensuring students have what they need to thrive. #EdBusTour24 ow.ly/qgPp50TfwEL

I am devastated to hear of the shooting at Apalachee High School. I grieve for the victims, their parents, and the community. Back to school season should be a time that students, teachers, & schools look forward to— instead it’s been plagued by gun violence. It has to stop.

It is hard to celebrate a back to school bus tour when our school community in Georgia is grieving. Fighting for public education means fighting for all of our students, teachers, and school staff to feel safe in their schools. I’ve had enough. I urge Congress to act.
