Extension of the Household Support Fund is a positive move. But as the Winter Fuel Payment axe plunges more pensioners into poverty, the Fund may be inadequate as more vulnerable older people turn to councils for help. More will be needed to keep people warm this winter.

New analysis of children's services spending demonstrates the urgent need for investment in early intervention. Children and families are not getting the support they need at the time they need. The government must act at the upcoming budget to turn the tide. #ChildrenAtTheTable

New research by Pro Bono Economics highlights often very profound needs of older children entering care. Last government facilitated growth of market in care-less accommodation, where 4 in 10 children in care aged 16 & 17 now live. Most profitable part of care system, according to CMA.

Employers agreed with us that they need to do more and it's good to see the 2023 green shoots of progress have grown. Recruitment for SWs still proves challenging for employers, we now need to see more concerted action & more roles offered on part-time / flexible hours contracts.
