It’s experiment day in the lab! Postdoc Erin Borbee is laying the groundwork for her upcoming #NSFfunded Postdoctoral fellowship which starts in the Fall!
I have the BEST colleagues here at Department of Biology TXST!! Came back from 4 amazing days at #evol2023 to find a thick stack of Barbara McClintock reprints + a companion biography in my mailbox. Shout out to Jim Ott for think of the Symbiommunity Lab lab and leaving these for us!
The Symbiommunity Lab lab been awarded our first NSF grant! Our BRC-BIO grant will support work leveraging Astrangia to study how variation in multi-partner symbioses affects immunity. A MASSIVE thanks to co-PI Dr. Koty Sharp for her support. 1/2 Texas State Research Department of Biology TXST
Super proud of MJ Strike who’s been visiting us all summer from Carleton College and conducting research on cnidarian immunity. They are presenting preliminary work today at the inaugural Texas State Research IDEA Center RICE showcase!
Excited to announce the latest publication from the Symbiommunity Lab lab, led by Natalie Villafranca. We investigated reproduction-immune trade offs in Astrangia, and the roles of symbiotic variation in these trade-offs We found no evidence of trade-offs! peerj.com/articles/16586/
