We had become friends and they told me that they were surprised how much they liked me, because they had hated me for years. And so much of my education was being in spaces with people who believe I had stolen something from them simply by also being there.

I’m thinking about the person who told me that when we were kids their mom would punish them whenever I placed higher than them at an orchestra audition. It didn’t matter that I had been playing longer or that I was more skilled. They should have at least beaten the Black kid.

When I was 8, my private christian school used test scores to place kids into a special gifted program. I was the only third-grader to qualify for it at my majority-white school. My white peers complained.

The program never ran again after that year.

It's never about 'merit'.

I AM SCREAMING BECAUSE I LITERALLY SAID THIS YESTERDAY and once was in my work slack.

But if you insist on participating in electoral politics, think bigger amd demand more---which is still the minimum, honestly---from the folks you want to elect.

And be prepared to fire them if they don't follow through on what you elected them for.

I feel like you should be teaching people how to please your body regardless of their sexual experience, but that’s just me 😭
