Today, in a statement to the #NPT #PrepCom, Ambassador Bruce Turner reaffirmed the United States’ assurance not to use or threaten to use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear weapons states that are party to the NPT and in compliance with their nuclear nonproliferation obligations.

Finland 🇫🇮 and Germany 🇩🇪 organised a #NPTPrepCom side-event on Nuclear Risk Reduction in the framework of Creating an Environment for Nuclear Disarmament (CEND). NRR is not a substitute to nuclear disarmament, but increases trust and contributes to nuclear disarmament efforts.

Through frank & inclusive conversations, Creating an Environment for Nuclear Disarmament #CEND paves the way to a nuclear weapons-free world. I spoke at #NPTPrepCom about the initiative’s work on #NuclearRiskReduction, which aims to minimize threats & enhance global security.

At #NPTPrepCom, I described 🇺🇸 implementation of its disarmament commitments incl. ✅Maintaining a moratorium on nuclear testing/fissile material production ✅Developing strategies to verify nuclear disarmament ✅Seeking arms control w/ Russia & PRC ✅Reporting transparently.

I was pleased to speak at NPDI’s #PrepCom side event today on transparency, accountability, and strengthening the #NPT review process. The United States is deeply committed to advancing these goals, and we believe there is cross-regional support to do so. Let’s get it done.
