Jim isn't insisting on the use of an English alphabet, he's pointing out that the Uyghur (ئۇ + ي +غ + ۇ + ر) letter "غ" is transcribed using "gh," not "g." In Uyghur, "گ," a totally different letter, is transcribed as "g." Spelling it "Uygur" is just wrong.
