Y6 did our strong start lesson during which we learned about independent variables (what we change during an experiment) & constants (the things we keep the same). We completed an experiment measuring how the distance a puppet is from a light source changes the size of the shadow

Our first chess lesson of the year! We learned all about the history of chess and learned how pawns move and capture. ♟️We are so excited for our chess journey this year Chess in Schools and Communities Chess in Schools Merseyside

We spent the first library session of the year reading and sharing our favourite books and stories with our friends

1J enjoying ‘Dough Downtime’ after dinner. Squeezing, squashing, rolling, poking & pinching play dough helps to make our hands strong, which is important for writing. ✍️ We do this as a class to some calm music, which helps to calm our bodies and minds ready for more learning 😌

1J had their first CUSP geography lesson, all about the seven continents of the world. We learnt the continents song and used the big map to have a look at the size of each continent, as well as where each one is in relation to the others. So much conversation and exploration!

Fabulous friendships developing in Reception as children join in with lots of exciting activities.

To start our topic of Animals, Including Humans in Science, we explored the purpose of homes/ habitats and how they differ. We compared the habitat of a rabbit and a bee.

2M have been looking carefully at numbers to 20 this week. We have used ten frames and base ten to represent tens and ones and we have journaled about what we have explored. We are showing really good understanding of place value.

1/2P visited the library for the first time this year today. We love reading and sharing books with our friends 💜
