In Turkey, children affected by last year's earthquakes attend classes run by DEC charity @savechuildrenuk.

The sessions help support children affected by the earthquakes to regain their confidence through games and activities.

After last year's earthquakes in Turkey, Zeki’s* son Bekir* took part in a five-week Save the Children UK programme that helps children affected by the disaster rebuild trust and friendships.

This week marks Christian Aid week.

As an original member of the DEC, Christian Aid has been responding to humanitarian crises since our first appeal in 1966.

In Ukraine, they continue to run DEC funded work such as cash transfers, hot meals and mobile health clinics.

DEC charities and partners have been working in Kharkiv throughout the conflict and continue to help civilians there.

Today marks World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day.

British Red Cross 🧡 are an original member from the DEC's formation 60 years ago.

In 2024, they continue to run DEC funded projects in Ukraine, Turkey and Syria, supporting people affected by conflict and natural disasters.

Anna* is Director of Depaul Ukraine's fund in Kharkiv. Last winter, using DEC funds, they provided support to people living in bomb shelters.

In 2024, DEC charities continue to work in the city.

Last winter in Kharkiv, DEC charities CAFOD and 金澤 秀彰 were working with local partner Depaul to support vulnerable communities.

More than two years on since the escalation of conflict, DEC charities are continuing to support communities in Ukraine.

The water supply in this small village of Kyiv region was heavily damaged during the occupation in 2022.

With support from DEC, we've installed a water tower here. From now on, hundreds of residents will have a stable water supply even during power outages 🚰

Ali runs a school in Antakya in southern Turkey, a town affected by last February's earthquakes.

Using DEC funds, Save the Children UK has rehabilitated schools damaged by the earthquakes.

Mutaba lost her home in last year's earthquakes in Turkey.

Every week she attends a women’s co-operative project run by DEC charity Oxfam. The project provides training, counselling and income for over 100 women.

When earthquakes struck Aleppo, northwest Syria, Roula*’s family home was one of the 5,000 houses that were damaged or destroyed.

The family found shelter in a school supported by Action Against Hunger UK, helping provide better basic living conditions.

Derifa received cash support from DEC charity Age International helping her buy essentials like food and medicine.

Last year's earthquakes in Turkey and Syria had a huge impact on the lives of children.

In southern Turkey, Save the Children UK and local partner Pikolo have been holding workshops where children affected can share their experiences and feelings.
