Earlier this week, 89 AEDs were donated to athletic trainers in Charlotte area schools! The HEARTest Yard, teamed up with Atrium Health Foundation, One Beat Medical and Defibtech (that's us!) to help make it happen. Thanks to all the organizations and people who were involved!

Chain of survival week! The 6 links are: 1. Activation of Emergency Response 2. Early CPR 3. Rapid Defibrillation 4. Advanced Resuscitation by Emergency Medical Services 5. Post Cardiac Arrest Care 6. Recovery This week we'll dive into to each link in the chain, one by one.

Link 1: Activation of Emergency Response. If a person is unresponsive, call 911 immediately. Don't hesitate - the sooner medical professionals arrive, the greater the person's chance of survival.

Link 3: Rapid Defibrillation AEDs are a crucial link in the Chain of Survival, as they can restore a normal heart rhythm. Locate one and use it right away by turning it on and following the audio instructions.

AED scavenger hunt! Have you spotted an AED in your local school? It only takes a few seconds to find it and log it into memory. Knowing where AEDs are located can save lives!

Placing an AED strategically in a school can make a difference in an emergency. It should be located in an easily accessible place where anyone on the grounds can get to it within 3 minutes. Many times, at schools, AEDs are located by the school's main entrance or front office.
