After 25 years of consistent failure in the conference on disarmament, they have managed to somehow lower the bar even more than I thought was actually possible. China is really calling approving observer states a "victory of true multilateralism"

Hello Andrew Stroehlein, I recalled this tweet of yours while reading some Very Upset People’s reactions to the #Amnesty report on Ukraine. I’m curious what you think of the whole brouhaha.

Terribly sad news, and a great loss to the #1972BWC. Jo played a huge role in getting the international scientific community involved in implementing the BWC. I always admired her untiring optimism and cheerful persistence (qualities much in demand at the #BWCRevCon right now).

In times of insecurity and conflict States should uphold international humanitarian law, not unravel it. The Parliament of Lithuania has voted to withdraw from the Convention on Cluster Munitions, setting a concerning & historic precedent. icrc.org/en/news-releas…

Regrettable that Lithuania withdraws from the Convention on Cluster Munitions. How wars are fought matters. It is important to uphold international rules, norms, and obligations even when the security situation changes - Espen Barth Eide regjeringen.no/en/aktuelt/lit…

103 members of the Lithuanian Parliament Lithuanian Seimas voted to withdraw from the Convention on Cluster Munitions. Only one voted - and spoke - against. Thank you Valius Ąžuolas for standing up for the protection of civilians and for #IHL.

Excellent explanation of why cluster munitions are banned and should stay banned. Essential reading for all NATO members - and everyone else. #ClusterMunitions #CCM

Amended Protocol II of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW), to which Israel is a party, has quite clear prohibitions on the use of certain types of booby traps and "other devices". Surprised not to see more discussion of this.
