The fork in the road, it is finally here. What a journey it has been working with Mubanga Mubanga Kalimamukwento on Doek! Literary Magazine for the past three years. From her I have learned the importance of hard work and determination. Also, laughter. And generosity.
Anyone who has worked with Mubanga Kalimamukwento knows how tireless she is when it comes to editing and improving the work that is before her.
There came a time when Doek! Literary Magazine's newsletters could have been called "Things Mubanga Has Been Doing."
An oeuvre. A body of work. This is the goal. Man, I work hard but Mubanga Kalimamukwento makes this shit look damn easy. Wow, wow, wow!
I cannot wait to see all of the things that Mubanga Kalimamukwento does with Ubwali Literary Magazine in the coming days, weeks, months, and years.

I will not even try & outspeech Rémy Ngamije. He has finished all the words as usual 🥹Doek! Literary Magazine was the best place to learn how to be an editor. I had the kindest colleagues & the most generous writers. Thank you for showing me all that is possible🫶🏾
