Lots of male Red-tailed #bumblebees (Bombus lapidarius) in the garden over the last few weeks, so I've been hoping the new queens would appear soon... and they have! Newly emerged queen on Viper's bugloss. Male on Creeping Thistle.
Aren't they GORGEOUS?!

Did my first #BigButterflyCount in my South Cambs garden yesterday when the sun came out. Unfortunately only a few whites seen, but afterwards, and quite unbelievably, a White Hairstreak turned up! First I have ever seen and doubt it will come back! #Butterflies BC Cambs and Essex
