As expected, students have been galvanized by Columbia University's crackdown on peaceful protesters. Hundreds have rushed to take the place of their classmates who were arrested on the East Lawn and have now taken over the West Lawn.

Columbia when it gave tenure to Edward Said embraced his postcolonial critique of texts. Columbia today, when students are applying the postcolonial critique to real world live events? Not so much.

I have been conducting research about the 1968 Columbia protests for such a long time, but I honestly do not know what to say right now. Except, perhaps, that student movements have been one of the most progressive, courageous political avantgardes of the past century

Had a great evening at the new exhibition at EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum ‘Look Back to Look Forward: 50 Years of the Irish in Britain’. A rich mix of social, cultural + political history with lots of oral histories. Especially nice to catch up with curator and old EUI comrade Rosa!

Have been reading this over the last few days and it is so good. Such a rich cultural, social, political, and gender history of the wartime labour of Indians in World War One. A really rich contribution to First World War historiography and very well written too.
