Zhang et al. (2024) use the 2021 Chinese Social Survey to document positive correlations between Internet use with citizen-led (discussion, expression, petitioning) & govt-led activities (meetings, hearings), but no correlation with voting. journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.11…

Interesting way to categorize types of participation. ⬇️ In my meta-analysis work, I found that internet/social media use doesn’t affect the likelihood of voting. This finding is replicated in new data from China, addressing a critical knowledge gap.
