When I went through training I would have said yours was inferior (due to closing off choice) but I can’t get behind 5-10 years of wasted lives. We should absolutely accept those early years (which we currently dismiss as prevocational).

The power form might be helpful to increase patient knowledge after consultation. Pilot study is promising. Currently under RCT. #RACS23

One if the worst bits of #qualitativeresearch is coming terms with how much I stutter and stumble. When my interviews are written out, I sound like I am making up speech from scratch #meded

So excited to be participating in a #drivers23 incubator session, even if I have to do it online. This excellent program encourages and mentors rural and regional jdocs to create excellent research. Monash Rural Health

For those who aren’t aware, #DRIVERS23 is a regional/rural research day focussed on research done in or relevant to non-metro areas. Abstracts close 15 June. Conference on September 23 in Bendigo. So excited about this years conference. Monash Rural Health

When you elect to be rude to someone else at work, you are electing to diminish their performance by 50 %. This will harm the patient. Rude people are a patient safety risk, not heroes.

I think we will probably end up with better outcomes if we facilitate regional and rural patients accessing more of their healthcare in tertiary centres. That’s probably a better outcome for all.

Literally no one understands something more completely than a woman in a meeting who starts a question with “Just so I understand…”

I’m also gonna say there’s a problem when a nursing home with a dementia care protocol calls the police for this. It sounds like the residence might have been under- or poorly staffed.

We need less people offering women coaching on their careers (these women are killing it already) and more people offering men with 🚺 partners coaching on how to share household life duties equitably. How to plan a child’s birthday party, etc…

Great podcast with Monash Rural Health staff A/Prof. Bernadette Ward and Dr Pam Harvey calling for a more nuanced approach to rural health in communities
