Asking your NICU colleagues for a hand during handling and procedures needs to be seen as the trauma informed, developmentally essential care that it is - not a negative, not a weakness, and certainly not as an incompetence

The US has a politician running for president who said America is not (and has never been) a racist country. But y'all wonder why we "talk about race so much." Not talking about racism does not end racism; it maintains racism.

Was a joy to work on this with my superstar team of Evelyn Obregon Robin Ortiz, MD, MS, FAAP and #DrKateWallis in conjunction with baller Penn librarian #SherryMorgan. Pro tip: try to never do a systematic review without a librarian. They elevate your team.

This is how we de-silo health equity work. This writing team met and received guidance through Neonatal Justice Collaborative. They were already galvanized but their passion turned into product and is being more widely disseminated because of our network. Join us.

Data from our Children's Hospital team that we must disaggregate by race, ethnicity, & nativity so as not to mask pop health disparities. Also: extreme preterm birth isn’t the same as moderate or late PTB birth. Lumping will hamper prevention efforts; we must disaggregate here too.

I truly believe conducting work to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion needs not only be trauma-informed but is a path to wellness for both patients and ourselves. Excited to join this conversation!

Race and ethnicity are strongly linked to preterm birth rates -- but how does one's country of origin influence risk? LDI Fellow Diana Montoya-Williams, MD MSHP, FAAP and her team use birth country to further expand how we understand and address preterm birth. Read more below: ldi.upenn.edu/our-work/resea…

Really enjoyed working with The Conversation U.S. to discuss what we learned from immigrant mothers in #Philly about how we can improve prenatal care for this growing community. Community-informed #HealthEquity theconversation.com/immigrant-moms…
